Pearl Harbor survivor Firman Balza dies at age 95
World War II veteran and Pearl Harbor survivor Firman Balza of Green Bay died Wednesday morning at the age of 95.
We spoke with Balza's daughter Wednesday afternoon when she informed us of his passing.
He was one of the very few Pearl Harbor survivors still living in Wisconsin.
Balza lived his entire life in Green Bay, aside from his time in the service in World War II.
He never spoke about his experiences until later in life, when he says he felt compelled to, in honor of those who lost their lives in the Pearl Harbor attack.
For the past 15 years, Balza held presentations at schools throughout Northeast Wisconsin, sharing his stories with thousands of students. He also attended countless veterans events.
Action 2 News profiled him during an Old Glory Honor Flight to Pearl Harbor in 2012.
