Green Bay holds afternoon Memorial Day observance
A Memorial Day observance drew a late afternoon crowd in downtown Green Bay.
The ceremony held in Admiral Flatley Park on S. Washington St. included service members past and present and featured remarks from elected officials who all said to never forget the sacrifices of the armed forces.
"It's up to us to draw strength from those sacrifices, to find a way where we can look on our own lives, even if we haven't served, and think, what can I do to make my community a little bit better? What can I do to honor the sacrifices that our veterans have made?" U.S. Congressman Mike Gallagher (R-Green Bay), a Marine veteran, said.
