Green Bay Mayor Genrich, Chad Weininger receive threatening messages

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The Green Bay Police Department is investigating a note that was sent to Mayor Genrich. The note reads, in scribbled handwriting: “Protect your family.”

Genrich tweeted a photo of the letter Thursday.

No further information has been made public by either the police department or the Mayor Genrich’s Office.

Chad Weininger, a candidate running for Green Bay mayor, released a statement Thursday condemning the threatening message and sharing that he also received a text message on March 17 threatening his family.

“There is no place in political discourse that should include threats of any kind,” Weininger said.
